HOW WE BECAME STAFFORDSHIRE BULL TERRIER BREEDERS

Thanks for visiting our website. I am called Edward Owen. The Owen’s family are the owners of Charming Staffordshire. My wife and I are pet lovers so we took up the initiative to breed these lovely dog breed to satisfy the needs of families who will want to own or add a new member to their family. My knowledge about the Staffordshire Bull Terrier has grown as the years go by as they are a dog breed that are very smart and make us to learn new things everyday. My history with owning a puppy goes right back to my Christmas holidays when I was 10 years old. My parents bought me a lovely Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy which I named Liam. Liam gave me a lot of childhood memories when I was growing as a teen. He was more than a best friend to me. He was so lovely and friendly. Each time I got angry back then about something, Liam was always there to console me and make me smile again. I always thought he could talk as he understood me so much. I always speak to him at times hoping he will respond. Everywhere I went to,Liam was with me. I met my wife in college. We were very good friends back then. She loved Liam until she insisted her parents should get her a Staffordshire Bull Terrier. That was how our love for this lovely dog breed grew up.Our dogs use to play together. Unfortunately in our later years at college, I lost my lovely puppy Liam. We grew up loving each other so much and loving this dog breed. Later on, we got married and with our love for Staffordshire Bull Terriers, we decided to breed and raise this dog breed and why not educate puppy lovers about the importance of owning a Staffordshire Bull Terrier puppy. Fast forward to today, we breed this lovely dog breed in our 3 acres of land where our puppies have enough space to play around. My family and I are dedicated to help everyone own the perfect, healthy puppy for their home. With our knowledge of this dog breed from childhood, we will say Staffordshire Bull Terriers are the best dogs to own. Temperament:

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is warm towards people but can be unfriendly towards other dogs. The SBT has a strong prey drive, so he should not be left alone with smaller animals. Since he longs for human interaction, he cannot be left alone for long periods as he can get destructive when bored or lonely.

The Staffy is a very intelligent and quick learner but tends to be impulsive and stubborn. Owners should be firm and consistent, and take on the alpha role in order to establish the strongest bond. The best way to train this Terrier dog breed is to reward good behaviours instead of punishment for faults.

The Staffy is known to excel in various dog sports including fly ball, advance obedience, and agility training. The Staffordshire Bull Terrier breed does not bark much, making him suitable for apartment living. However, you must check your area or landlord for any restrictions. The Stafford breed is not a big barker; however he could be noisy in different ways like snoring, grunting, groaning, and even yodelling.

Nutrition and Feeding:

An adult Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog needs 1 1/2 to 2 1/4 cups of excellent-quality dry dog food per day. His high energy needs are paired with high-nutrient requirements. However, like in every breed, the amount of food depends on his age, size, build, activity level, and metabolism.

Make sure to select a dog food that is rich in protein. Protein, such as beef, fish, eggs, and poultry, helps to build and maintain the dog’s muscle, organs, bones, and immune system.

Whereas good fats, such as chicken fat, lamb fat, and fats coming from sunflower oil, provide energy.

Health and Exercise:

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog breed has an average lifespan of 12–14 years. Many ailments and health conditions are hereditary, meaning they are associated with the dog’s breed.

Though Staffordshire Bull Terriers are a very good breed, if not well taken care of, they may suffer from illnesses like Hip Dysplasia, Persistent Hyperplastic Primary Vitreous (PHPV), Cyclic Follicular Dysplasia. Thus your Staffordshire Bull Terrier needs to feed healthy and well taken care of. Make sure they do a lot of exercises and take them on walks as they have enough strength in them

Grooming:

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a medium-sized, burly, muscular, and agile breed. He is often compared to the American Staffordshire Terrier and American Pit Bull Terrier. Their coat will need to be hand-stripped every 4–6 months, especially if you plan to include them in the show ring. Doing this tedious task will help strengthen the coat and maintain its texture. Bathing should be done every 4–6 weeks.

The Staffordshire Bull Terrier dog has a short, smooth coat that is easy to maintain. It comes in white, red, fawn, white, black, or blue. Any of these colours with white and any shade of brindle are accepted in the breed standards as well. Black combined with tan or liver colour is considered undesirable.

Grooming a Staffordshire Bull Terrier is a breeze since dirt can be brushed out easily. He is generally a clean and odourless dog, so he requires only weekly brushing and occasional baths. Shedding is also very minimal. Staffys with pale colours or fine fur are prone to sunburn. So they should have dog-safe sunscreen when taking a walk outside during hot weather. When bathing a Stafford Bull Terrier , make sure to remove any foreign matter in his eyes. Ear care in the Staffy breed is recommended monthly, making sure to watch out for redness or any signs of infection.
